Major commercial real estate conference lands in Denver

If you notice a bunch of commercial real estate professionals wandering around downtown Denver this weekend, it’s because of the CCIM Institute's "CCIM Live" conference at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. The subtitle is “Reach for New Heights.”
The organization, which is named for the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation it awards, filled the agenda with networking and programs like “Eminent Domain: 5 Mistakes You Don’t Want to Make” from Denver-area and national real estate experts.
Re/Max chairman and co-founder David Liniger kicked off the conference Friday, fresh off the 21-day quite period he endured after the Re/Max IPO earlier this month.
Other speakers include Regional Transportation District board member Bill James, who has extensive background in commercial and investment appraisals.
“Denver has some very strong academic programs that tie in nicely with the CCIM Institute’s education program. Local CCIM chapter members are very active in the market,” said Jeff Engelstad, PhD, CCIM and Clinical Professor at University of Denver Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management. “We were able to use their connections to get respected commercial real estate industry and academic leaders on the conference program.”
Engelstad is the conference chairman.
I’ll be speaking about “The Mile High Recovery” at 1:45 p.m. Saturday to close out the conference. My talk with include where to find commercial real estate stats from the Denver market, how Lower Downtown (LoDo) got to be the hottest office market in the nation and the changes coming to the Central Platte Valley and the Denver Union Station area.
