NC solar development up, costs down

As a range of companies prepare to build large-scale solar farms in North Carolina, the per-watt price for those projects has fallen below $2 and often below $1.50.
At those prices, the state is poised to move beyond the 5-megawatt utility-scale projects that have become the N.C. standard.
Chapel Hill-based Strata Solar demonstrated that larger projects were feasible for independent developers by completing the Dixon Dairy Farm in Rutherford County in late 2011.
