Dell Diamond on deck for renovations

The city of Round Rock and its partner Ryan Sanders Ryan Inc. have leased the Dell Diamond to Round Rock Baseball Club Inc. since 1999.

The Dell Diamond in Round Rock may be up for a renovation soon, according to Round Rock City Council documents.
The city council has been asked to approve a total of $350,000 for an estimated $610,000 in work that includes numerous projects throughout the stadium. The most extensive project is a $260,000 replacement of infield and outfield turf, though others include new lamps for the field lights and bird control netting.
The money would be allocated from two different city-controlled funds, the capital improvement fund number 595 and the capital repair fund number 593. Both funds are paid into by the city's hotel fund.
On Sept. 19, George King, the executive vice president and general manager of the Round Rock Express submitted a letter to the city's finance director asking for a total of $350,000 for the projects. City Council will decide on the funding at its upcoming Oct. 10 meeting.
