Crane trouble again at One57 -- 13,000 lbs. dangling 20 stories high

A crane attached to a rising Midtown skyscraper has suffered issues while lifting a load of concrete, forcing the closure of streets below.
NBC New York reported that the crane helping construct the One57 project at 157 W. 57th St. was lifting about 13,000 pounds when a malfunction halted the process, suspending the concrete midway up the building. CBS New York said the concrete was about 20 stories high, and officials are particularly concerned with the malfunction since the New York area is under a tornado watch today.
The One57 project is notorious for the issue that plagued it during Hurricane Sandy, when a part of a crane was damaged and threatened to fall, forcing evacuations in nearby areas.
Both the street below and some surrounding areas have been closed and evacuated, NBC New York said.
